Operations of textile
and allied industries are predominant in Tirupur. Around
1987 industries including six large and medium scale industries
are located in the town. 1753 (88%) of these units are
knitwear and related industries.

STRATEGIES
Considering
the industrial character of Tirupur, Economic development
strategies need to be framed which ensure sensitive, integrated
and progressive development. These strategies will be
sustainable in order to create employment in the Tirupur
Region and to ensure that all development projects are
co-ordinated in a timely and effective manner.
Tirupur
Municipal Council (TMC) will strive to provide services
and efficient land use plan to facilitate economic growth
of the city, through specific strategies enlisted below.
